Why You Should Buy Microsoft Dynamics GP

While having lunch the other day with Dave Unruh, senior sales consultant at The TM Group, I had the opportunity to chat with him about why companies should purchase Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013. A very lively discussion ensued!  Dave explained to me that Microsoft Dynamics GP is the most robust and strongest accounting software platform available. So many businesses are looking to stay ahead of the competition, and they want a tool that is easily accessible and produces easy team adoption. Strong auditing trail capability and ease of retrieving companies’ financial statements are very important. They want to garner greater ROI on their software purchases. Companies can now have their HR and payroll in house with right-out-of-the-box capabilities.

Dave explained to me that there is tight integration offered within GP and other Microsoft programs that are used daily, such as MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, and Microsoft Dynamics CRM (there’s a free connector for CRM when you purchase GP). It’s the easiest solution to integrate with reporting tools, Dynamic Excel worksheets, SQL databases, and Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services. Also available are some really effective third-party integration software programs that work in tandem with many GP deployments to maximize a company’s efficiency.

One of the most exciting new features introduced with Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 is Web Access. This feature allows GP to now be used via a true web client and is designed for easy access from anyone’s PC or mobile device. The Business Analyzer tool, or, as we like to refer to it, “the Amazing Dashboard tool,” has full accessibility via the web, and you don’t even need a separate GP license to access Business Analyzer. This superior dashboard application can be installed on any workstation and keeps track of your role-specific KPIs, drilling down to the most important and minute details.

Some of the other features that make Microsoft Dynamics GP the right choice for many companies include:

  • Fully integrated ERP finance software, payroll ERP, human resources, distribution, discrete manufacturing, project accounting, and field service applications.
  • Ability to customize and navigate the home page with new drag-and-drop features.
  • Document attach feature to allow you to send all the details—pictures, diagrams, letters, and quotes for the information needed—by emailing directly to your clients, suppliers, or team instantaneously.
  • The sales order processing and the “suggest item” entry.
  • SmartList and Extender
  • Journal entry inquiries for history; GL reconciliation for AP, AR, inventory, and bank statements; and clearing out unit account balances during the year-end close.

Dave explained that clients can purchase, lease, or rent Microsoft Dynamics GP to best suit their needs. Different user access options are also available, including limited users and full-access users, or you can mix and match with Pro Access. The starter pack includes three licenses and a whole suite of financial, payroll, and distribution modules. An Extended Pack, SmartList Builder Pack, and the Customization Pack are all available and include more operational-based modules such as manufacturing, project accounting, and field service.
